For more than 20 years, Iron Dog Inspections, of Northeast Ohio, has been conducting visual home and building inspections that meet or exceed American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) standards.

What is involved in a building inspection?

On average, visual home inspections take 3 hours to complete and are conducted Monday through Friday. Each home inspection includes careful examination of the following:

  • Ground, including grading, drainage, patio, walkway & driveway
  • General exterior, including siding, trim, decks, steps, roof, chimney, flashing, gutters and downspouts
  • Basement, including walls, floors and foundation
  • Attic structure, ventilation and insulation
  • Interior walls, including ceilings, floors and stairways
  • Kitchen and baths
  • Electrical system
  • Plumbing system
  • Heating and cooling system (temperature permitting)
  • Dangerous gases

Most home inspections take 2-3 hours.  Larger and older homes can take additional time.

The home inspection is comprehensive visual inspection of the exterior components, HVAC system, plumbing system, electrical system, foundation system, interior components and appliances.  Outbuildings, septic systems, well system, wood destroying insects, irrigation systems and pools are outside of the scope of the home inspection.
