Mold Inspections

Iron Dog Inspections is the only mold inspection company in Ohio that uses certified mold detection dogs. Research shows mold dogs are significantly more accurate than human inspectors alone, detecting mold at a 97% accuracy rate compared to approximately 70% for visual inspection only.

Our mold dogs are trained to detect the scent of mold, even in hidden or hard-to-reach areas. They work independently of what they can see, which means they can locate mold sources behind walls, under floors, or in other concealed spaces where a visual inspection might miss it.

Yes. Scent detection dogs have a long, proven track record in military and law enforcement applications. Mold dogs are trained to alert whether or not they find mold, ensuring unbiased results.

Both prospective home buyers and current homeowners can benefit from a mold inspection. Buyers can protect their investment before closing, and existing homeowners who suspect mold or are experiencing unexplained health symptoms can find out whether toxic mold may be a factor.

Sick Building Syndrome refers to health effects that appear to be linked to time spent in a particular building, often caused by poor indoor air quality or the presence of mold or other contaminants.

Radon Testing

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can't be seen, smelled, or tasted. It enters homes and buildings through the ground and can accumulate to dangerous levels. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend radon testing for all homes up to the third floor.

Store-bought kits can detect some radon, but a professional test provides a much higher level of certainty. Iron Dog Inspections uses a continuous radon monitor for accurate, reliable results that you can act on with confidence.

Yes. According to the EPA's Map of Radon Zones, homes and buildings in Ohio are at higher risk of elevated radon levels. There is no known safe level of radon, and any type of building can be affected.

Radon testing takes 48 hours using a continuous radon monitor. Results are available immediately after the test is complete.

The Ohio Department of Health recommends testing every 3 to 5 years if you do not have a mitigation system, and every 1 to 2 years if a mitigation system is in place.

Radon Mitigation

Radon mitigation is the process of reducing radon levels in a home or building to a safe range. Iron Dog Inspections is a state-licensed radon mitigation company (License #RC230).

Mitigation is recommended when median radon test results come in at 4.0 pCi/L or higher.

Our systems are custom-designed for each home. The system captures radon gases from beneath the structure and re-routes them to the exterior above the roofline, safely venting them away from your living spaces.

Iron Dog Inspections guarantees radon levels will be reduced to 3.9 pCi/L or lower.

Yes. The radon fan carries a 5-year manufacturer's warranty, and our workmanship is warranted for one year.

Yes. A post-mitigation test is included in the price of the mitigation system. Testing begins 24 hours after installation and runs for 48 hours to confirm the system is performing as expected.
